C'est en 1969 que Bruno Gambone (né en 1936) rentre des Etats-Unis après y avoir eu une pratique picturale abstraite. Il s'attelle alors à la reprise de l'atelier familial de céramique, fondé par Guido Gambone. Il commence l'élaboration d'un bestiaire en grès aux codes couleurs joyeux comme ce chat-lion en est le témoignage. Ce n'est qu'après 1973 qu'il s'engage dans ce qui devient sa production la plus identifiable, à savoir le bestiaire des animaux blancs et travaillés à la plaque. 

It was in 1969 that Bruno Gambone returned from the United States after having had an abstract pictorial practice there. He then set about taking over the family ceramic workshop, founded by Guido Gambone. He began to develop a stoneware bestiary with joyful colour codes, as this lion cat testifies. It was only after 1973 that he became involved in what became his most identifiable production, namely the bestiary of white animals worked on a flat layout.
